Beyond the Familiar

Where Water
Becomes Wilderness.

There are places that demand your attention. And there are places that invite you to slow down, to look more carefully, and to discover what has been there all along.

The Everglades belongs to the latter.

Here, the land seems to stretch forever beneath an immense subtropical sky. Water moves quietly through the sawgrass. Wading birds gather in the shallows. An alligator breaks the surface of a still pond. And in the final moments before sunset, the entire landscape transforms.

This is not a place to rush from one landmark to the next. It is a landscape that rewards patience, observation, and a willingness to see beyond the obvious.

For photographers, that is where the magic begins.

Through the Photographer's Lens

A World Worth
Looking Closer.

From quiet moments with extraordinary wildlife to the vast beauty of the wetlands, the Everglades offers an astonishing range of photographic opportunities. Our expedition is designed to explore these different environments while developing your creative vision in the field.

01 / Wildlife Photography

A Living
Wilderness.

The Everglades is one of North America's great wildlife destinations. Herons, egrets, anhingas, and roseate spoonbills inhabit its waterways, while alligators patrol the marshes and bask along the banks.

We'll work on anticipating behavior, recognizing compelling backgrounds, managing difficult light, and creating images that tell a story beyond a simple wildlife portrait.

02 / Landscape Photography

The Beauty
of Simplicity.

At first glance, the Everglades can seem deceptively simple. A broad horizon. A sea of grass. A sky that seems to stretch forever.

But look more carefully and the landscape reveals endless layers of texture, pattern, reflection, and light. We'll explore how to create powerful compositions from these subtle elements and bring depth to seemingly minimalist scenes.

03 / Intimate Landscapes

The Art of
Looking Within.

Beyond the open wetlands, the Everglades transitions into remarkable mangrove environments. Tangled roots, still waterways, and layered vegetation create an entirely different photographic experience.

These complex environments invite us to slow down and discover order within the chaos, isolating details and finding compositions that might otherwise go unnoticed.

04 / Light & Atmosphere

When the
Sky Takes Over.

In a landscape defined by open horizons, the sky becomes one of our most compelling subjects.

We'll pursue beautiful early and late light, study reflections and atmospheric conditions, and learn to respond creatively as the scene transforms around us. When conditions permit, night photography offers another opportunity to explore the subtropical landscape.

His approach to photography workshops is personal, immersive, and rooted in the belief that creating great photographs begins long before pressing the shutter. It's about learning to recognize light, understanding your subject, and discovering a more intentional way of seeing.

In the Everglades, that philosophy comes to life. From the patient observation required for wildlife photography to the subtle beauty of a vast wetland landscape, Andrew helps photographers develop both their technical skills and creative instincts.

With small groups and an emphasis on individualized instruction, this expedition is designed to provide the time, guidance, and encouragement to grow as a photographer while experiencing one of America's most remarkable wilderness areas.

Before You Go

Good Questions.
Thoughtful Answers.

Everything you need to know before joining us in the Everglades. If you have additional questions, we're happy to help you prepare for the expedition.

What level of photography experience is required?

Our workshop welcomes photographers with a range of experience levels, from enthusiastic beginners to experienced photographers seeking to strengthen their creative vision.

Because our groups are small, instruction can be adapted to individual goals and abilities. A basic familiarity with your camera is helpful, but you do not need to be an expert.

What camera equipment should I bring?

We recommend a DSLR or mirrorless camera, a sturdy tripod, and a selection of lenses appropriate for landscapes and wildlife.

A telephoto lens is especially useful for birds and other wildlife, while a wide-angle lens is valuable for expansive wetlands and dramatic skies. Bring extra batteries, memory cards, and protection against moisture.

A more detailed equipment recommendation will be provided before the workshop.

Is lodging included in the workshop price?

Yes. Three nights of shared lodging in the Florida City area are included in the $2,500 workshop investment.

Specific accommodation details and room arrangements will be communicated before the expedition.

Is transportation provided?

Yes. Transportation during scheduled workshop field activities is included.

Participants are responsible for arranging travel to and from the Florida City area, including flights and airport transfers.

How physically demanding is the workshop?

Expect a combination of short walks, boardwalks, nature trails, and time spent photographing from accessible field locations. Some terrain may be uneven, wet, or muddy.

Participants should be comfortable walking while carrying their own photography equipment and spending extended periods outdoors. Please contact us in advance if you have specific mobility considerations.

What wildlife might we photograph?

The Everglades is home to a remarkable variety of wildlife, including herons, egrets, anhingas, roseate spoonbills, alligators, and numerous other species.

Our itinerary will take advantage of photographic opportunities as they arise, but wildlife is unpredictable and no particular sighting can be guaranteed.

Will we photograph sunrise, sunset, or the night sky?

We plan field sessions around favorable light whenever practical, including early mornings and late afternoons.

Night photography may also be possible if weather, access, and the workshop schedule permit. Exact opportunities depend on field conditions.

Are meals and park entrance fees included?

Meals, personal expenses, and park admission fees should be budgeted separately unless your registration agreement specifically identifies them as included.

We'll provide additional preparation information before the workshop.

How do I reserve my place?

The workshop investment is $2,500 per guest. A $500 deposit reserves your place and is applied toward the total, leaving a $2,000 balance.

Visit the registration section above to begin the reservation process. Remaining payment timing and booking conditions are provided in the applicable registration agreement.

What happens if weather changes our plans?

Weather is part of the Everglades experience, and flexibility is essential to successful nature photography.

We may adjust locations, shooting times, or activities based on weather, wildlife activity, park conditions, and safety considerations. Our priority is to provide a rewarding photographic experience within the conditions available.
