I'm Andrew Slaton. Photographer, filmmaker, writer, and lifelong student of the outdoors.
For more than 25 years, I've made a living looking closely at the world — chasing stories, studying light, and exploring places that make me feel most alive.
Over the years, my work has taken me into extraordinary landscapes and introduced me to remarkable people. But the thing that keeps drawing me back isn't simply the photograph. It's the experience of discovering something worth photographing.
That's the spirit behind these expeditions. Small groups, thoughtful itineraries, and the freedom to slow down when the light, landscape, or moment deserves our attention.
I'll share what I've learned about composition, technique, storytelling, and working with natural light. Just as importantly, I'll encourage you to experiment, ask questions, and develop a photographic perspective that's entirely your own.

His assistance from initial location scouting to taking photos to finally selecting, editing, and preparing photos for whatever medium you choose is truly invaluable. He inspires you to become a better photographer and maximize your time.
You exceeded our expectations on many levels, weather, food, beautiful drives and photo locations. It was so fun to have meals together and find a couple new spots. Thanks for including the castle tour just for fun. You are a great instructor, driver, and entertainer and made the trip a delight. We didn’t have to think or plan anything which was perfect. We love the shots we got!
I had a great time shooting with you, learned quite a lot (try to do more tele work now!) In those few days I learned a huge amount not just about shooting, but postprocessing and how to scout locations and how to best prepare and setup a shooting. Thanks! Not necessarily. Our photography expeditions are designed to accommodate photographers with varying levels of experience. Whether you're developing your technical skills or looking to refine your creative vision, Andrew provides personal instruction tailored to your goals.
How large are your photography expedition groups?
Groups are intentionally small. This allows more individual attention, flexibility in the field, and time to explore locations without the pressure of a large tour. Group sizes vary by expedition. For example, our March 2027 Torres del Paine expedition is limited to five guests.
Where are your 2027 photography workshops and expeditions taking place?
The 2027 calendar includes Big Cypress National Preserve and Everglades National Park in Florida, Torres del Paine and Three Parks Patagonia in South America, the Oregon Coast, Iceland, and the Great Smoky Mountains.
