Photographer · Explorer · Workshop Leader
For more than 25 years, photography has shaped the way I experience the world. It's taken me into extraordinary landscapes, introduced me to remarkable people, and taught me that the most memorable photographs often happen when we're willing to slow down and pay attention.
I've always been drawn to wild places. The mountains, the unpredictable weather, the quiet moments before sunrise, and the feeling that something extraordinary might happen just around the next bend.
Having photographed the remarkable landscapes of both Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, I know how quickly the light, weather, and mood can transform a familiar scene. That's part of what makes this region so compelling. Every day brings another opportunity to see something extraordinary.
My approach to leading photography expeditions is simple: create the time, flexibility, and encouragement for people to make photographs they're genuinely proud of. Over ten days, we'll explore composition and technique, follow promising light, and leave room for the unexpected discoveries that make an expedition memorable.
Patagonia rewards curiosity, patience, and a willingness to embrace the unpredictable. I'd love to share this journey with you.
See you out there,
Andrew

Ten Days.
A World of Possibilities.
From the granite spires of the Fitz Roy massif to ancient glaciers and the legendary landscapes of Torres del Paine, this expedition takes us through some of Patagonia's most extraordinary photographic environments. Our journey is designed around exploration, autumn color, changing conditions, and the freedom to make the most of remarkable light.
Into the Heart of Patagonia.
Our expedition begins in Argentine Patagonia, where we'll get acquainted, discuss our photographic goals, and begin exploring the dramatic landscapes surrounding El Chaltén. Towering granite peaks, winding rivers, and the first brilliant colors of autumn set the stage for the journey ahead.
Beneath the Great Peaks.
With time dedicated to the extraordinary mountain scenery of the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre region, we'll pursue compositions shaped by changing weather, reflections, autumn forests, and dramatic alpine light. Rather than rush between viewpoints, we'll allow promising conditions to guide our photographic decisions and return to locations when the opportunity is right.
The Kingdom of Ice.
Our exploration of Argentine Patagonia continues with opportunities to photograph the immense scale, sculptural textures, and striking colors of its glacial landscapes. From sweeping vistas to intimate studies of ice, water, and weather, we'll look for photographs that reveal both the grandeur and subtle details of this remarkable region.
Across the Border. Into the Wild.
Our journey continues into Chile and the extraordinary landscapes of Torres del Paine. Here, the monumental peaks of the Paine massif rise above turquoise lakes, open grasslands, and windswept valleys. We'll explore the region's changing light and weather while remaining alert for the wildlife encounters that make this landscape even more compelling.
Last Light. Lasting Impressions.
We'll make the most of our remaining photographic opportunities, revisiting compelling locations when conditions allow and bringing together everything we've explored throughout the expedition. Our journey concludes with new photographs, stronger creative instincts, and memories of Patagonia's extraordinary landscapes that will stay with us long after we return home.
A note on our itinerary: This timeline illustrates the anticipated progression of our ten-day expedition, rather than a fixed daily route. Specific locations, travel days, photographic stops, and activities may change in response to weather, access, border-crossing logistics, safety, and available light. All activities will follow local park regulations. Confirmed arrival, departure, meeting, and transportation details will be provided separately.

A Few Things Worth Knowing
Before You Go.
Ten days exploring Patagonia's remarkable landscapes across Argentina and Chile deserves thoughtful planning. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have before joining the expedition.
What photography skill level is required?
You don't need to be a professional photographer to enjoy this expedition. The experience is designed for people who share a curiosity about wild places, an appreciation for extraordinary landscapes, and a desire to grow creatively.
Familiarity with your camera's basic controls will help you make the most of our time in the field. Instruction will be adapted to individual experience levels and photographic goals.
How physically demanding is the expedition?
Patagonia involves time outdoors, uneven terrain, and sometimes challenging weather. While we may walk to reach particularly compelling viewpoints, our emphasis is on photography rather than completing demanding trekking routes.
Exact walking distances, elevation changes, and accessibility requirements will be confirmed before booking. Please discuss any mobility concerns with Andrew before reserving your place.
What photography equipment should I bring?
A camera with manual exposure controls, a wide-angle lens, a medium telephoto or longer lens, and a sturdy tripod are useful for this expedition. Bring sufficient batteries, memory cards, and dependable protection against rain, wind, and dust.
A detailed equipment and clothing checklist will be provided ahead of the expedition.
What is Patagonia's weather like in April?
April is autumn in southern Patagonia. Southern beech forests may display brilliant gold, orange, and red foliage, while the mountains can experience rapidly changing conditions, including strong winds, rain, cold temperatures, and occasional snow.
Autumn color varies from year to year and between locations. Our itinerary will remain flexible so we can respond to the weather and make the most of available photographic opportunities.
Which areas of Patagonia will we explore?
Our expedition is designed to explore both Argentine and Chilean Patagonia, including the El Chaltén region, Los Glaciares National Park, and Torres del Paine National Park.
These landscapes offer an extraordinary variety of photographic subjects, from granite peaks and glacial valleys to autumn forests, lakes, waterfalls, and wildlife. The exact sequence of locations will depend on the final travel arrangements and conditions.
Will we cross the border between Argentina and Chile?
Yes. The expedition is planned to include both countries, with an international border crossing during the journey.
You'll need a valid passport and must meet the applicable entry requirements for both Argentina and Chile. Border-crossing arrangements, meeting locations, and other travel logistics will be outlined in the final expedition information.
Are accommodations included?
Accommodation arrangements for the ten-day expedition will be specified in the final booking information, including the number of nights, room-sharing arrangements, and any single-occupancy supplement.
Please review these details before making your reservation.
What meals and transportation are included?
The final expedition information will specify ground transportation, designated airport transfers, and the arrangements for traveling between Argentina and Chile.
Meal arrangements, park entrance fees, airfare, and other inclusions or exclusions will also be clearly identified before booking.
How do deposits and payments work?
The total expedition price is $10,000 per guest. A $4,000 reservation deposit is applied toward the total cost, leaving a $6,000 balance.
The remaining balance due date, cancellation provisions, and refund conditions will be specified in the booking agreement.
How many photographers will be joining?
This expedition is designed as an intimate, small-group photography experience, allowing for individual guidance and flexibility in the field.
The final maximum number of guests will be confirmed in the official expedition information.
Will we have opportunities to photograph wildlife?
Wildlife is an exciting part of the Patagonian experience. Depending on conditions and the animals we encounter, we may have opportunities to photograph guanacos, condors, and other native wildlife.
However, this is primarily a landscape photography expedition, not a dedicated puma-tracking or wildlife-focused tour.
