The RISE is for the young at heart and the contemplative of mind. It is for the love of the chase, the strategy, and the beauty of the surrounding lands.

I am no guide.

In my years of fly fishing, I have had the good fortune to spend thousands of hours learning by doing. But I recognize there are many folks out there who know much more than I do. So in each destination, we line up the most experienced and wise local guides to assist.

I am merely the facilitator of once-in-a-lifetime experiences, something in which I have profound practical knowledge.

Join me for an epic fly fishing adventure.

“Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau

In my decade of leading destination photography workshops all over the world, a desire has arisen in me to organize a different kind of adventure.

My passion for fly fishing has blossomed and begun to consume my time. I have now fished some of the most epic waters, and my longing to share that with others has grown to the point of necessity. So I've been contemplating the idea of facilitating trips. Epic adventures that I, myself, dream about. Something of this love that I can share.

I envision planning, shaping, and facilitating experiences for anglers. Gathering like minded folks who want to sit around a fire in the evening with me, recalling the joys of the day on the river, over pipe smoke and single malts. Good food, cozy accommodations, and the pristine waters of the world in all their surrounding glory... and of course, the fish that haunt our wildest dreams.

But it is even more than this. It is immersing oneself in beauty, and art, and discipline, and perhaps being quiet long enough to hear the whispers of truth in the roar or gentle gurgles of the water.

If this sounds like your jam, please reach out or simply click one of the links below. I'm offering three distinctive trips in 2025, and I'd love to tell you more about my vision for them.

Landscape of a river with rocky banks, trees with fall foliage, mountains in the background, and birds flying in the sky.

“Then in the Arctic half-light of the canyon, all existence fades to a being with my soul and memories and the sounds of the Big Blackfoot River and a four-count rhythm and the hope that a fish will RISE.

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. The river was cut by the world’s great flood and runs over rocks from the basement of time. On some of the rocks are timeless raindrops. Under the rocks are the words, and some of the words are theirs.

I am haunted by waters.”
